How to Open Our New Bags (and Why They’re Designed This Way)

We have had a few questions about our new bag design, so we wanted to explain how to open them correctly and why they have been designed this way. You can also watch the short video above for a simple walk through.

At Future Feeds, our focus is on delivering a product that is easy to use, reliable, and packaged responsibly.

Why We Use This Bag Design

Our bags are part of the Ag Recovery Scheme and are fully recyclable once empty. To meet recycling requirements, the bags are made with stitched construction rather than glued seams or tear strips.

This keeps the bag strong during storage and handling, while also allowing it to be recycled without extra processing when you are finished with it.

The Best Way to Open the Bag

Start by undoing the stitching at the top of the bag and pulling it free so it is out of the way.

Place the bag on a solid, stable surface such as a table or bench. Keep the opening of the bag facing forward to guide the product as it flows out.

Using a sharp knife, hold the bag firmly and cut down the length of the bag. You can cut part way down if you are feeding in smaller amounts, or cut the full length if you are emptying the bag directly into a feed bin.

This method allows the product to flow cleanly and steadily, with less mess.

Why This Works Well in Day-to-Day Feeding

Opening the bag this way keeps its structure intact and helps control where the product goes as it empties.

The benefits include:

  • Easier handling during feeding

  • Reduced spillage

  • Smooth, consistent flow into feed bins

Recycling Once the Bag Is Empty

When the bag is empty, it can be placed straight into recycling through the Ag Recovery Scheme.
