For Canterbury farmers & growers

Could you utilize your land more?

We are looking to work with local farmers on growing arrangements for the coming seasons. The idea is simple: work together to find an arrangement that suits your farm, fits with your existing operation, gives you a reliable cropping opportunity for the years ahead, and gives us a reliable supply of quality feed.

Why the hay dryer matters

More control at harvest, less reliance on a perfect weather window.

Future Feeds has invested in a specialist hay dryer so baled hay can be dried under more controlled conditions. This gives us more security when field drying alone is not enough and helps reduce risk around harvest.

1
More harvest flexibility

Less of the outcome rests on hitting one narrow run of ideal drying weather.

2
More control over moisture

The dryer provides growers with greater flexibility, ensuring hay can be brought to the right moisture level even when drying conditions aren't perfect.

3
More Yield

Being able to bale the hay at a higher moisture results in less leaf loss and higher yields.

How it could work

It does not have to be an all-or-nothing deal.

We would rather start with the needs on your farm, then work out whether there is a practical way for Future Feeds to fit around them.

Keep feed you need

If part of the crop needs to stay on farm for your own stock, that can be part of the conversation.

Keep grazing in the mix

Where timing, crop and season allow, grazing does not automatically have to disappear from the paddock.

Agree what we take

We can talk through which cuts may suit Future Feeds and what arrangement makes sense for the block.
